Step-by-Step Surya Shanti Puja Process
Sankalp: Declaration of the person's Sun sign, ascendant, and specific Sun-related issues.
Dawn Worship: Ideally begun at sunrise facing east, the direction of the Sun.
Surya Namaskar (Vedic): 12 rounds of Vedic Surya Namaskar with complete mantras, not the physical exercise version but the ritual invocation.
Surya Sthapana: The Sun's image or yantra is installed with red flowers, copper vessel, and red cloth.
Aditya Hridayam Recitation: This powerful hymn from the Ramayana, chanted by Sage Agastya to Lord Rama before battle with Ravana, is the most potent Surya stotra in existence.
Surya Mantra Jaap: The Surya Beej Mantra ("Om Hram Hrim Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah") is chanted 7,000 or more times.
Copper Vessel Offering: Water mixed with red sandalwood, red flowers, and a copper coin is offered to the rising sun.
Havan: Red flowers, ghee, sandalwood, saffron, and wheat are offered into the sacred fire with Surya mantras.
Ruby or Sunstone Energization: A ruby or red stone is energized and given for ongoing solar strength.
Aarti and Wheat Prasad: Aarti is performed and prasad of wheat-based sweets is distributed.
